An absurdity of life…
How do you deal with this problem in your life and work?
Here are two things that are true, and uncomfortably so:
1️⃣ You are responsible for what you don’t know.
True, right? You get results in your life. All those results have causes. Each and every one. Some of those causes are beyond your direct control. And that’s not fair. And some of those causes ARE within your control. So many of the results are a results of what you do. But you often don’t know which ones. And sometimes you’re missing important information about how to get better results. And you’re also responsible for these things you don’t know, because you’re responsible for the results in your life. This is also not fair. But it’s true. And we have to be responsible for the results in our life.
2️⃣ There is no way to know what you don’t know unless and until life reveals it to you
How does this happen? I think there’s only ever two ways. Either you think of it yourself, or someone else teaches it to you. Either way, YOU have to choose where to go, what to read or listen to. And I’m not sure that you ever really choose that, but let’s not get stuck there. To improve your results you need to change your actions. And to change your actions you need to think about your actions. And you either come to this conclusion yourself or someone shows up and guides you there.
This is how life works. We’re all here without having chosen to be. And we’re in constant action. And all of those actions get results. And we experience our results. And we like certain parts but not others. And we work to maintain the parts that we like and improve the parts that we don’t. And we either think of this ourselves or get guidance from others. And we’re often not in control of either of those processes. But we’re responsible for our results just the same.
And that’s the way it has to be, because it really can’t be any other way. And it got us here, and it got you there.
So, how do you like it? Want to get clarity on how to improve even more? Want to learn to work with this heavy responsibility and actually get better at discerning your own thoughts AND finding the right guidance from other people too? Because you can. And that’s really a good place to be, as long as you’re responsible for all of it anyway.
If this is speaking to you, I encourage you to join me and a handful of other motivated individuals next week for Level Up Your Life, a free virtual 4-day workshop all about why you’re getting the results that you are, how to maintain what you like, and how to improve what you don’t.
You’re responsible for your results, a lot of which come from what you don’t know. And that’s not fair, but that’s how it must be. At the end of this experience I guarantee you’ll have the awareness to see much more of what you don’t know, and the perspective to make peace with the fact that we can’t ever know everything that we don’t know, even though we’re responsible for it, and that it’s actually better that way
