The funny thing about STRENGTHS 💪 - does this happen to you?

Something I find often happens when I coach people - I am constantly listening closely so that I can notice and catalog their STRENGTHS.

It’s funny, isn’t it?  But it’s true.  Every session ends up in a place where I am telling the client a story about their strongest, most resilient self and what that makes them capable of.  And it’s not a story I just make up.  It’s based on all the beautiful, genuine evidence that I carefully gather over the course of the conversation.  I’m always looking through the fears, hesitations, and frustrations to see that strong, resourceful, resilient, well-intentioned hero inside.

It makes a difference.  When you tell people the strengths you see in them, their state changes.  It inspires peace, confidence, inner vision.  And those states are REAL.  Reconnecting with our strengths truly creates a parallel universe in which you FLY 🦅 instead of crawl 🪱.

Here’s what I think is funny about strengths…

  1. We ALL have them.  All of us.  They’re like our little toolbag from the gods to get us through this quest of life.  Everyone has a unique palette of strengths, and getting in touch with them is a big part of showing us what we’re here to do on this earthly plane.

  2. We ALL have trouble seeing them.  I’m convinced this is true.  I think it’s why there will always be the need for mentors.  For some reason we tend to see our WEAKNESSES much more clearly than our strengths when left to our own devices.  I don’t know why.  But it means we will struggle to unlock our true potential without help.

  3. We ALL need to be reminded of them constantly.  It’s not enough to do one assessment or have one coaching session.  Life continues to challenge us in novel ways, and this means that applying our strengths demands more flexibility and creativity than most of us realize.

I think that’s funny.  It gets to this strange metaphysical absurdity about existence where we see how difficult and imperfect the world is, but in doing so become the very heroes the world needs.

The world could be “perfect”, whatever that means (that’s a whole other book).  But it’s not, and it never will be.  Our work is never done.  And the work we are called to do is largely shown to us by our strengths.

Are you doing the work you are called to do?  REALLY doing it?  On EVERY level?  If you sense there are higher levels of success, impact, and influence for you to hit, talk to me.  After listening to you for just an hour I will discern your strengths, reflect them back to you, and prescribe a challenging but attainable and custom-fit action plan to improve your life in every sphere that you influence.

Remember, strengths are funny.  You always have them, but you will also always struggle to see them and remember them.  And that’s why you need a mentor.  And I’m here for you 😊
