Why it’s CRUCIAL to understand the leadership process

Recently I heard a stunning success story about leadership.  After a presentation and was approached afterward by someone who leads a community organization.  It’s busy, challenging, picky, thankless work, as leadership so often is (read the 6 points in the black section on the homepage of www.aaronjmarx.com for more about that).

This particular leadership role involves unifying as much as possible numerous team members with opposing, and often deeply oppositional, perspectives about ideal outcomes.  Even on a good day this is challenging.  But lose awareness of the process and it spells endless frustration.  Can you relate?

Like I said, this is a success story.  This leader told me that they had read the promotional materials about my talk shortly before a team meeting, which primed their mind to understand, be aware of, and intentionally look for different parts of the leadership process.

The meeting threatened to get contentious, but this leader took a breath, stepped back, and took in the shape of the interaction.  And as a result, they found that everyone there actually agreed at a deep level, and were on the same page about how to execute their vision once they realized it.

Isn’t that remarkable?  How many leadership and organizational struggles arise simply because team members simply aren’t clear about where they are in the process?

Ultimately I believe that people seek agreement.  We all agree on many things.  Life is hard.  Human life is strange.  None of us asked for it, we’re all in it together, and we all want to grow ourselves and others in the process.  We all agree on all of these things, and if you can tap into this empathy you can channel this deep agreement into growth and improvement in so many ways in your life.

How’s your organization?  Is it flowing, with people harmoniously interacting, and acting to realize the better world you all see?

Or is it beset with endless gridlock, inertia, resentment, infighting, frustration, and defensiveness, cynicism, and belligerence?  It’s SO tiring!  There’s a better way.

And the better way is understanding the process of leadership.  Because there is a PROCESS, a reliable pattern that all successful leaders follow.  And I can show you how to find it to create camaraderie, harmony, and agreement in your organizations and enterprises.

I mean, c’mon.  If just the promotional materials for my talk have that effect, imagine the result of a discovery call with me!

Want to talk about that process and how it’s relevant to you?
